Ristorante Di Canaletto

Ristorante Di Canaletto is a sit down restaurant and it is my favorite restaurant in Tokyo Disneysea. Everything about it is beautiful. The decor creates an amazing atmosphere and the food is really good as well. I’ve dined at this restaurant probably close to 10 times now and always walked out of this dining experience a happy man. The best restaurant in Tokyo Disneysea!!!

Make sure you make priority seating reservations early in the morning for this restaurant as the queue for lunch and dinner here can get quite long. If the weather is nice, try to get a seat outside as that will enhance your experience. Watching the gondolas go by when you have your meal can really enhance your dining experience.

TDR will have a special seasonal menu depending on when you go. This visit, we ordered a Chef’s Special Course with the main course being the Prosciutto and Egg Calzone. We also ordered a Spaghettini with Shortneck Clams and Savoy Cabbage in Anchovy Sauce from the main menu. I’ve tried a lot of dishes from this restaurant and have never been disappointed once. I remember once when my mates and I got a little tipsy in The Teddy Roosevelt Lounge, walked over to Ristorante for dinner, ordered a bottle of champagne and picked our food by pointing at the menu with our eyes closed. Even then, our dishes were amazing. Ahhhhh, beautiful memories.

No surprises for this dining experience. The food, once again, was delicious. Super awesome food with super awesome service and super awesome atmosphere. Simply SUPER!!!

Shrimp and Gnocchi Fritto

Shrimp and Gnocchi Fritto

The first dish that arrived for us was the Shrimp and Gnocchi Fritto with Warm Red Bell Pepper Dip. This was the appetizer from the Chef`s Special Course. The shrimp was really fresh and juicy. Vegetables were cooked perfectly and the gnocchi frito burst with flavor when you bite into it. The dip had the perfect spiciness and complimented the dish without taking away the flavor of it`s compatriots. A really good dish that got us really excited about our main dish. KM gives this dish an 8/10.

Next up, we got the Prosciutto and Egg Calzone. This dish was really good. The aroma of the cheese along with the pork when you cut into the calzone was brilliant. The only complaint that I have from this dish, just like any other calzone, is that the taste gets old after a few bites, in my opinion. It might just be me, but it is sort of like an okonomiyaki. Every bite has the same flavor and texture. A really good dish to share, but I couldn`t have had the whole calzone as a dish by myself. KM gives this dish an 8/10.

Spaghettini with Shortneck Clams and Savoy Cabbage in Anchovy Sauce

The other main dish we ordered, the spaghettini, was the highlight of this trip to Ristorante. I loved this dish. The flavor of the dish was very well balanced and the spaghettini was cooked perfectly. The saltiness from the seafood and the sweetness from the cherry tomatoes created this beautiful dance in my mouth. Simply stunning. KM gives this dish a 9/10. Near perfection. I just wish that the portion was a little bit bigger.

Italian Doughnut and Vanilla Ice Cream

Finally, the dessert came to wrap up this dining experience. It looked really nice and the ice cream was very tasty. The ice cream might be homemade. The doughnut was kinda dry to me, though. All in all, it was a decent dessert. It did the job, but it was no Dole Whip. When it comes to desserts, the American parks destroy TDR. It might be a cultural thing. The Japanese are more interested in looking at their food and going, “Kawaii!!!”, while the American parks cater more towards the eating up my food and going, “God damn, that hit the spot!!!” type. I belong to the latter group of people when it comes to desserts. KM gives this dish a 7/10 rating. To be honest, I`ve never found one dessert in TDR that makes me go, WOW!!! Whenever I crave for desserts, I normally hit Ikspiari. Much better desserts there.

Great service, great atmosphere (especially if you get outdoor sitting), great food. I`ll say this again. Ristorante Di Canaletto is the best restaurant in Tokyo Disneysea. If the dessert was better, I would have given this restaurant a perfect score. Apart from the dessert, everything else was, wait for it……. SUPER!!!

I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant to EVERYONE.

  1. Thank you for creating this website and sharing your adventures at the Tokyo Disney Resort! I especially like the restaurant reviews. It is hard to find many written in English.

  3. Thanks for the reviews. It’s good to see some vegetarian options on this menu so we will probably go there to have lunch or an early dinner. If you spot any other good veggie options, please do let us know!

    • Hey there Emi. I’m in Disneyland now. Was at Disneysea yesterday and asked them about veg friendly options. It’s quite sad actually. There is only one restaurant per park that caters to vegetarians. Ristorante Di Canaletto in TDS and Eastside Cafe in TDL are the only restaurants in TDR with a vegetarian menu.

      • That’s too bad, I guess we will have to settle for fries or corn soup if we get desperate! I saw there are lots of pizza and pasta places, any magheritas or tomato penne?

      • So sorry Emi. I’m not really sure about that. I don’t think there is though. Never seen any Margheritas or Tomato Penne kinda pasta or pizza before in the parks.

    • Thank you so much for all the comments. I really appreciate it. Thank you so much. Yes, I have tried the Blue Bayou, but honestly, I feel that Ristorante provides a better dining experience when seated outdoors on a nice day. Nothing compares to it. It’s just plain beautiful.
